What's All This Plastic In My Spec?

It's not the wood we have grown to love... but newer plastic materials abound in our typical spec divisions now. Members (and non-members) of the AWI, AIA and students are invited to join us for networking, an AIA certified presentation on the specification of decorative and high functioning plastic materials (CEUs available) and some good food!

What's New With 3 Form - New products, along with tips and techniques for in house fabrication, and how best to do business with 3form.

An Overview of Solid Phenolic Laminates - Applications and fabrication techniques for this material as now covered by the Architectural Woodwork Standards (AWS) presented by Trespa.

  -Details from the presentation regarded increasing efficiency in the office and on the shop floor, looking at the problem like a customer to find weak points in the system and bettering communication between employees of all levels.

David offered his email and company site for more information on going lean in the office. He used Conley Caseworks as a successful example, provided pictures of how the Conley crew was able to implement the new practices and stats on how they have profited from it.

The Empire State Chapter is having its second member meeting on December 6th and featuring a talk on Lean for the Office, and Obtaining NYS Mfg Assistance Grants by David Hallet.
